Valentine's Day Round Up
Hey Fashionistas!
I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day weekend! I had such a blast! I was able to spend time with my family and my bestie on Valentine's Day. I kind of wanted to do more of a recap with the second part of my Valentine's Day favorites.
Favorite Books About Love
In no particular order. I did not want to post the typical classic love stories so I chose some that I love and think you would enjoy!
What would happen if you started to blog about every detail of your life? Throw in a tangled web of romance and you'll get Girl Online. If you don't already know about Zoe Sugg, she is one of my favorite bloggers/YouTubers. I love this story because I can relate to the blog portion of the story. I wrote a blog like that when I was a lot younger but after learning about the consequences it holds, I deleted it. (Sorry) Anyway, I could not put this book down! There is actually a second one out now, but I have yet to read it. I kind of do that thing where you savor something so it won't end so soon. (I am currently doing that with Mad Men on Netflix).
The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson
This is not the love story you know from Disney. It is so cool to get a different, darker side of the fairytale. I badly want to tell you every detail of this story, but if I start to summarize it I will end up telling you everything! haha If you are not too into reading, I would recommend reading these fairytales because they are really short yet compelling. Even with fewer pages, Hans Christian Anderson delivers an intricate story that makes you feel like you live in the sea with the mermaids.
Don't you just love when an author creates a character you relate to so closely? I am surrounded by such cool people in Los Angeles, I sometimes feel like such a dork. haha The main character in this story is really quirky, but you have to root for her! The good thing about this emotional rollercoaster is that it doesn't end after this book...because it's a trilogy! Even after that, if you really cannot get enough, you can watch it in theaters on June 3rd. I am so excited to see it and even more excited because I LOVE Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin!! Ahhh!
Thumbelina by Hans Christian Anderson
I feel like I talk about this story a lot so I'll spare you the gushing. Instead I would recommend buying the whole collection of fairytales like I did because after you read them, you'll never look at the Disney movies the same again. Not in a bad way though!
I literally just received this for Valentine's Day and I am so excited to read it! I know it's not a favorite because I have not read it yet, but I have a good feeling about it. I am not sure it is going to top my favorite stories from Nicholas Sparks (The Longest Ride and The Notebook), but I'll give it a chance! I just love the way he creates his stores. This might sound crazy, but I want to shadow him for a day to find out how he gets his inspiration! They are all so different and gut wrenching, but after crying my eyes out I feel inspired and want to give everyone a hug! haha His words are so powerful like that.
Favorite Songs About Love
These are only a few of my favorites! If you want more you can follow me on Spotify and find all of my favorites there.
I Was Made For Loving You by Tori Kelly Feat. Ed Sheeran. They have the best voices in the industry right now and this song is the perfect blend of them.
Cheek To Cheek by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. This is not only one of my favorite love songs, but it is also on my ultimate favorite songs. Her voice is classic and I can listen to it all day. This song makes me so happy and I love the lyrics!
Cinema by Jason Evigan. This is actually a cover of a song, but I love this version much better. I am such a sucker for an acoustic love song! I first heard this version at a friend's wedding where the bride (Sally, if you are reading this you were such a beautiful bride!) walked down the aisle to this song. I instantly fell in love and added it to my phone right away! It's so beautiful.
God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton. This group of songs wouldn't be complete without a country song! The lyrics to this song is so good and then to add Blake's voice is the cherry on top! There are so many love songs in country music, but this one just hits close to home.
(There Is) No Greater Love by Amy Winehouse. Amy is one of my favorite artists and this song is my favorite song from her. She sounds like she came from a different era in this particular track. I feel like this song is a good representation of her voice. I wish she was still here to show everyone how it's done. Such talent. This isn't an original song, but you can't really tell because her version is so different.
All of Me by John Legend. How could I not add this song to the group!? John's music is going to live on forever. I love him so much (and Chrissy)! I watched the Oprah special where he sings it to Chrissy and Oprah and I cried like a baby! It was so intimate and special.
I linked all of the songs to iTunes so you can purchase them if you'd like. Let me know what your favorite love songs are in the comment section below! I definitely want to listen to more.
This year I had not one, but five Valentine's!! haha I started my day at aerial yoga, and then met up with my fwend Caitlin. We walked around the Claremont Village and grabbed a few things for our families. We went into a record store where I was so close to impulse buying a record player! Instead I settled for a Johnny Cash cd for my dad. We also bought fresh flowers from the farmer's market. I LOVE farmer's market flowers! After we just spent the afternoon talking and going into vintage stores. After I met up with my family for sundaes and a movie. We also exchanged gifts where I received my new book, thanks sissy poo!
